My sincere condolences to the Jobs family, his friends, co-workers and everyone who was touched by him or mourns his passing.
I never met Steve Jobs, I did not know him personally although many of us wish we could have. He was an inspiring figure that with his love of technology changed the world, and millions of people’s lives with it.
My father is a software engineer and as such I’ve always been surrounded by the latest computers and gadgets. He would often tell stories about working on the first Macs, before they were known as such. He even sold them in a local university computer store. So when I decided I wanted to go into graphic design, more than a decade ago, I decided that I wanted a Mac. My dad could not have been more pleased. While he himself used a windows based computer now for work, he always admired Apple products and could not speak more highly of them.
Then the iPod came out, and since its inception I have had all but one model out of the variations over the years. I often had three or four I used at the same time just to justify owning each type. But I still remember the big white rectangular device with its buttons along the bottom of the screen before the invention of the click-wheel or touch screen in music devices. Most of my friends were still using CD players at the time, walkmans. They marveled over the ingenious, “magical and revolutionary” device. But that was just the beginning.
I’m sad to say I have never owned an iPad or an iPhone, although both are on my wishlist and have been since they were merely rumours. I firmly believe that these devices have changed the world. They have changed how we communicate with each other, how we interact and share information. They touch our everyday lives and make them better, and in turn make us better.
I remember watching every Apple keynote presentation, either when it was posted online or I would follow along on a blog that was updated by the minute. Sometimes I would watch the keynotes over and over, just because of Steve’s passion for his job, his company, his products and his vision. His attitude and love of technology made me love it too. When he would introduce a new product he was no energetic and enthusiastic about it that it was just infectious; you could not help but be excited too.
As I’m sitting here, typing this on my beloved MacBook with tears in my eyes, I cannot help but still be shocked by this news even though we knew it was coming. When he stepped down as CEO in August, we knew… he was a man who would never have parted with his company if there had even had been a chance. I only wish we could have had another decade to see what other revolutionary and magical devices he would have dreamed up next. He had the ability to know what he wanted, before we even knew we wanted. Steve Jobs truly was a visionary. His passing, just after the conference and the announcement of the latest iPhone just makes it all the harder to accept that he really is gone. The only consolation that we have is that he left behind a legacy for us to not only remember, but to for us to look forward to in the future. He inspired so many people and showed them that dreams can become reality. His inspiration will only serve to fuel other innovators to strive for not just success, but if they are passionate about their dreams that they can make them real and tangible.
Steve Jobs has truly changed the world. He touched our lives and even our hearts with his love of life and everything Apple. We will forever miss that infectious enthusiasm, his quirky jokes, and the man who not only gave us technology to use but made us love using it.
YOU WILL BE MISSED.
May you rest in peace Steve Jobs.

No Love
Ah what a little boredom does for the soul! I’ve been stuck at home all evening and trying to come up with things to do. I stayed late at work, I made dinner, cleaned up and made lunch for tomorrow. I worked out, I edited my mother’s resume and I even checked up on all my finances. I put a load of laundry on and stole my cat away to my room. Now I’ve been sitting here waiting for inspiration to hit me… alas… nothing. Absolutely nothing.
And then there was music.
Sorry for the lack of blogging recently, life has been kinda crazy this past month. I posted before that I started my new job and it is going really well. The law firm I work at is a really good one and all the people who work there are great. I even got a new office chair for myself
March 31st was also my birthday, so Happy belated Birthday to myself! Lol. I hosted my first party at my house, which was awesome but a lot of work at the same time. To sum it up: lasagna, pizza, garlic bread, alcohol (lots of it!), jell-o shoots, and 4 dozen cupcakes lol. We actually went to McDonald’s to… obtain… the little paper cups that they use for ketchup for the jell-o shoots. On the actual day (it was a Thursday), my family went out for dinner to this nice little Italian restaurant with amazing food! Overall it was a pretty good birthday

Ah… the joys of starting a new job! I have been so busy this past week. On Monday I started my new job… I was so nervous that I only got about two hours of sleep. Infact all week the most sleep I got was about 4 hours a night lol. I’m definitely not a morning person; I am a night owl and I prefer it that way! It is very hard to adjust and start going to bed early and getting up early when no one else around you has to do the same thing. My boyfriend doesn’t have to, my parent’s don’t have to… Just me! Damn commute… over an hour there and over an hour home each day. At least I have my lovely iPod touch to keep me occupied
Speaking of sleep…

Friday was my five year anniversary with my boyfriend. I cannot believe we’ve been together for so long, but at the same time I feel like we’ve known each other forever. I have spent the better part of my adult life with him; we started dating when I was eighteen and now I am twenty three, turning twenty four next month. He hasn’t always been the best boyfriend in the past, but this last year especially he has become the type of man that I could see myself marrying. We had fun and celebrated by going out for dinner Friday night
Saturday we went out for my friend’s birthday to Boston Pizza. Lots of fun and lots of shots! I don’t normally drink! My parents leave tomorrow to go to Aruba; and I’m stuck here in the cold and snow lol. Oh well… I start my new job Monday! Wish me luck so that I survive the first day. I’m also looking for some new music to listen to during my commute, any music recommendations?

Thank you to everyone who welcomed me back to the blogging scene
Good to be back! I had quite the eventful weekend while at the same time… did absolutely nothing lol. Saturday was a write off, seeing as how I stayed up till 5:00 a.m. tweeking this site lol. Sunday, my boyfriend and I spent the day with my family. My cousin and his fiance came over with their baby. She’s already a year old now, they grow up so fast! She’ll be walking any day now. At least I have gotten her hooked on books already
Later on in the evening we took my brother to see Unknown, which was a decent movie, I would give it:

four heart rating. I am in love with Liam Neeson, the lead actor, I think he makes the movie for just about anything he does (Taken, anyone?).
I’ve been entirely obsessed with Smallville lately. In the past month and a half I have watched seasons one through seven in their entirety. As of the time of this post, I in the process of watching episode twelve of season eight. I’m actually kind of dreading getting to the end (season ten) because this is the last season they are making of Smallville! I will have to find some other show to keep me entertained on my long train rides to work everyday! Any recommendations of good TV shows to watch?

Hello and welcome to serene. This is my first post here myself, which is really quite exciting for me. I’ve been blogging since 2000 on a number of domains, mainly serene-silence.net, misslucky.net and serenesky.net. Due to certain circumstances I have been without a site for many months now so I am attempting to get back into the game
I’ve definitely missed blogging!
I have had a lot of exciting things happen to me lately… probably the most exciting is the fact that on Friday I was had not one but two job offers after several weeks of searching. I start a week Monday, as this Monday is a holiday here in Canada (Family Day — the silliest name for a holiday, in my opinion). The second was being hosted by the fabulous Georgina <3 I will try and update again soon but I must go back to tweeking this layout and adding some content
